I currently manage 2 retail stores on campus and the Deerfield Academy web store. We have a small main campus store in a renovated 250 year old home selling school supplies, logoed apparel and gifts, limited technology and personal care items, greeting cards, journals, gifts, games, and general books (textbook purchases are handled separately through the library staff, families pay a textbook fee for all course materials and they are distributed in the classroom). We have an even smaller store in our athletic complex selling logoed apparel and gifts, sports apparel, equipment and accessories. Our webstore sells all logoed apparel and gifts that are carried in the retail stores. In addition to myself, our staff includes 1 full-time Assistant Manager and 2 part-time sales associates. In addition to the retail stores, Deerfield operates 2 snack bar/cafes on campus under the auspices of Dining Services. While I do not manage these stores, I work closely with the Dining Services Director and manager of the snack bars. Deerfield Academy is an exclusive 9-12 (and PG) boarding prep school of 650 boys and girls in rural, western, MA.
I joined NACS after spending several years coordinating the consolidation of the stores under a single manager and getting fully staffed. I attended my first CAMEX in 2014, a rather daunting, but exhilirating experience. I was immensely gratefuly to have met the alliance of K-12 store members. I'm looking forward to further networking opportunities.
My husband and I live in nearby Greenfield, MA with our beagle dachsund Bella da Ball. Paul is Tech Director for Deerfield Academy's theater program. We have two grown sons and just welcomed our first grandson this summer. For fun, we like to make maple syrup in a small backyard sugar shack operation and we enjoy camping with our extended family. We spend as much time as possible on Chincoteague Island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where we own a vacation rental home.
